I scour many sources for information on what to see next (or more specifically, what to add to the Netflix queue), and I think that I do a good job of being thorough.
But no one can be that thorough. No viewer is an island. And thus, I begin this thread to ask for help.
Recently, a friend named Grace suggested Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead to me. It’s a movie I’d heard about during its theatrical run, but never got around to seeing. And it could’ve been easily forgotten except for Grace’s reminder; now it’s due to be shipped to us when its turn comes up.
What have you seen recently that you’d recommend to a friend? What flick aggravated you so much that you feel compelled to get into a discussion about it? What silly joke kept you laughing for a day and a half and just demands to be shared? Here’s the place that I hope will be your repository of viewing suggestions, right in the comment section. With any luck (and your help), we’ll all see this thread reappearing in the Recent Comments sidebar as time goes by.
And… GO!

Have you seen “The Hustler?” Beautiful, simple, straight-forward film. It’s one of those movies where you’ve seen a couple scenes here and there and you’re like, “I get it.” But it’s really interesting to watch as a kind of time capsule of filmmaking from the early ’60’s. Got a couple Oscars, nominated for a bunch more. Just plain-as-day great.
It’s funny, I’ve seen “The Color Of Money”, but never “The Hustler”. It’s now in the Netflix queue!
I was just wondering if you saw Burn After Reading and thought it’s supposed to represent 7 deadly sins
Susan- haven’t seen it yet, but would like to soon. What did you think of it?
Hi filmchris! Recently watched Recount. Just curious if this movie was supposed to fall in the documentary category, or if it was just a look at this fiasco strictly from a Dem view? I hope that question makes sense. Sure would like to see a film that deals with the many voting issues out there. Cheers!
